Chestnut and new wine
November is one of the most important months in the Umbria calendar. Chestnuts are ready to be picked and production of red wine from the year's grape harvest - 'novello' - is a real treat. Both products are celebrated during a three day festival at Narni
Olive harvest
Again, November is the key month. It marks the beginning of the olive harvest. Olives are hand picked or hand raked from the trees, with enormous nets laid on the ground to assist. Once picked, the race begins to crush them at the local oil press. One litre of oil per tree represents a good yield.
